Lin Xiaoman, a new intern at an antique shop, gets into trouble when the Ming Dynasty "Rat-Patterned Jade Box" she's guarding is stolen—only a blurry "rat shadow" is left on surveillance. Desperate, she meets Gu Ye, a self-proclaimed "professional rat catcher," who says the box is his family heirloom. To her surprise, her pet hamster Doubao has the box's key. Working together, they find the box holds evidence of Gu's father's wrongful accusation, and the mastermind is Xiaoman's uncle. As truth approaches, Xiaoman must choose between family and justice. Behind the lingering "rat shadows," Gu Ye is revealed as the "little beggar" who saved her years ago.
