When relic restorer Lin Xiaoman sorts out old items in an old villa, she finds a burnt diary under the hydrangea bed—In 1940, underground worker Chen Mo and gardener's daughter Ah Zhao made a promise here: “Wait for me to come back,” but they were separated by war forever. Now the villa is to be demolished, and Lu Zhixing, the architect in charge of the demolition, looks exactly like Chen Mo in the diary. From confrontation to collaboration, they uncover the truth: Chen Mo faked his death to protect Ah Zhao, and there's an unsent letter he hid under the flower bed for a lifetime. When the hydrangeas bloom again, can the “whispers under the flower bed” and “last glow of the ember” across 70 years heal the regrets of two generations?
