A modern office worker is accidentally reincarnated as Wu Dalang who sells sesame seed cakes in Yuncheng County, Northern Song Dynasty. The original Wu’s tragic fate is approaching—the sordid deal between his wife Pan Jinlian and Ximen Qing, misunderstanding with his sworn brother Wu Song, and frame-up by the local government are all traps. Refusing to accept fate, he uses modern business acumen to improve the sesame cake recipe, opens a chain food shop to accumulate capital, outwits the schemes, and even gets involved in official struggles, eventually becoming the richest man in Yuncheng. When he thinks he can live a peaceful life, he finds hidden schemes are far more than carnal plots, and the puzzle of who is the hunter and who is the prey has just begun.
