Duan Qixuan, an ad planner with chronic insomnia from workplace involution, hides in the "Sleepless Bookstore" at the alley every night for peace. The owner, Ma Xingshuo, always hands her a perfectly warm glass of milk as if he’s prepared, but never stays past dawn. Until one night, she works overtime until 3 AM and stumbles on his secret: Ma Xingshuo is crying over a yellowed diary, and the old photo inside matches exactly the one in her wallet—her missing childhood playmate from a decade ago. When an insomniac meets a "night watchman," the midnight bookstore holds an unfinished promise spanning ten years.
