Jiang Li, daughter of the powerful Northern Marquis, kills the emperor to avenge her father. But with the court in chaos, she’s forced to find a substitute ruler. She mistakenly kidnaps Gu Zhao, a wandering "down-and-out scholar," and forces him to wear the dragon crown. Just as Jiang Li gains control, she discovers Gu Zhao’s jade pendant is a royal gift from the late emperor—he’s the late emperor’s younger brother who went missing a decade ago! To make things worse, this "fake emperor" quietly warms her hate-filled heart through small acts: covering her with a cloak at night, taking a poisoned drink for her. Is Gu Zhao’s presence a coincidence… or a plan?
