On a snowy winter day, orphan Lin Wan is forced to marry into the Eastern Courtyard to “ward off evil” for the sickly groom Gu Zhao. But she uncovers Gu’s secret—he fakes his death to avoid danger—and a bigger shock: Gu is linked to the massacre of her family. When she presses a knife to his throat for revenge, she’s torn by the osmanthus candy hidden in his medicine jar and his warm hands warming hers on snowy nights. As snow piles up in the Eastern Courtyard, is it burying generational blood feuds, or his unspoken words: “I don’t want you to hate me”?
